Pro-Life in TEXAS this week!!!

If anyone's been keeping up with TEXAS -- the Lone Star State-- and the battle against abortion, you know that it's a wonderful victory for women and for the unborn and for all of us!

I am a 23-year old Catholic woman standing up for life, and with that comes respect for us women and for our bodies. My voice goes for the unborn children that are every day being killed through abortion. Regardless of how they came to being -- through rape, through an unplanned pregnancy, etc. -- there's a REASON that child came to be, and he or she deserves a chance to live.

When my parents got married my mother went through 2 years without being able to get pregnant. They were worried that a child of their own wasn't God's will for them. Then, my mom realized she had missed a period, and she was worried it was a false alarm. My parents went to the doctor to make sure and the nurse came back with the results. Both my parents were so worried to hear the news-- yes or no. The nurse thought that my parents didn't want a child so she looked at my mom seriously and sad and said, "I'm sorry." My mom replied back "What does that mean?" and the nurse looked down to the floor and said, "you're pregnant." My mom, shocked, asked again, "I'm pregnant? I'm pregnant?!" and my parents jumped and hugged each other and laughed and were so overcome with joy that the nurse was so shocked.

I feel loved just by hearing this story that my parents share with me. I wish that every child has that knowledge that their parents or their mother had so much JOY to have them. Obviously it's not always the case because of so much rape and cruelty in the world. But still, every child deserves a right to live.

I understand that the pro-choice (AKA, pro-abortion) uses the line that "women have a right to choose" to strengthen their voice, but ... what about the children? Do they not have a right to choose to live or die as well? And, if women have the right to choose, then why are most women who have abortions not know about other options available to them. That's the thing -- most women choose abortion because they cannot look anywhere else. But there are resources. There are people that WANT to help you.

In Bryan/College Station, we have the COALITION FOR LIFE and the GOOD SAMARITAN GABRIEL PROJECT.

Think about your body. No one has a right to hurt or to disrespect or to mistreat your body. When you conceive, that child becomes part of your body. You can feel a baby kick within your tummy. You know it's alive. How does that child differ from the time of conception-- when a sperm enters into the egg? Maybe you don't see him within you until it grows a little more, but he is still there, feeding from your nutrients and taken shape like his mother.

Today is the feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Let us pray for her intercession to end abortion in the world, for a respect to life, and for healing to all women who have the scars of abortion. Mother Mary, pray for us.
